In Pilates classes there are a maximum of 4 people which allows the instructor the ability to give corrections to all in a safe and fun environment. In our classes we use all the various Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Spine Corrector and High Barrel), as well as mat, foam roller and other accessory work. We also include some introductory work on the Gyrotonic equipment.
Stablization through core muscles (abdominals and spine) is strongly emphasized, along with coordination, flexibility and strength. Pilates has been extremely successful as a balanced fitness program as well as for injury rehabilitation. There is no overuse of muscles; it’s efficient in that one only need recruit specific muscles pertinent to a particular exercise. Pilates is a very intelligent safe way to achieve better posture and a healthier more balanced body.
