SAM'S MOTION STUDIO
We inspire every individual to achieve their maximum movement potential. By teaching Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method and integrating a variety of modalities, we strive to awaken body awareness and an overall sense of well being.
Over the past 15 years, much of the developed world has experienced the explosion in demand for Pilates. Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.
The Gyrotonic Method is an original, and unique movement practice which offers similar benefits also derived from Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance. Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions, with corresponding breath. With Gyrotonic exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.
Megan Maltos is Artistic Director and tap instructor at Danswest in Tucson. When Megan is not in her tap shoes teaching or performing, she comes here to Sam's Motion Studio to keep her body in shape and for a much needed change of pace.
